Self Actualization Simplicity Insight

To discover Self Actualization we need to ask... Where Do We Start? Part III

There are three constants in life... change, choice and change-less principles.

- Dr. Stephen R. Covey, Speaker & Author

Dr. Covey’s quote above changed a little from the previous page Part II. The principles are now preceded by the phrase “change-less”. This later quote is taken from his “Living The Seven Habits” work. The first phrase was taken from an accumulation of his quotes online… not sure which was first or last … however, why do you suppose he even use this phase in the quote above?

Dr. Covey believes change-less-principles are rooted in natural laws which never change i.e. the "law of the farm (see Part II) and he is emphasizing this fact by adding this phrase. Therefore I recommend and think it is important we keep this in mind as find self actualization by exploring the question “Where Do We Start?”

We start from the “inside out” by focusing on Simplicity Insight— the Whole Person model; body, heart, mind, spirit and by building, refining and/or reconditioning our “firm foundation”. The building materials for this foundation are the Whole Person capacities; body… To live, heart… To love, mind… To learn, spirit…To leave a legacy—in fact natural law principles should be considered the rebar found within our model of “Culture of Interdependence Fixated on Purpose”. And this rebar is the materials which keep the process tied together interdependently!

But first let’s talk about what we mean by a “firm foundation.” It is important to know our model of Simplicity Insight can be a powerful way of dealing with complex issues in your life or it can have little effect depending on your core values and paradigm.

We begin by making sure a firm foundation based on principle centered core values is established by refining, reconditioning or building it entirely.

Our core values are the result of what we believe! Therefore, it is important to start with self awareness! We always start “inside out… not outside in.” Begin by knowing what you believe about yourself as a Whole Person—a Total Person unity of the body, heart, mind and spirit. And your principle centered core values regarding each of these:

1. Body (PQ) – To Live; our discipline, things physical, fiscal and survival needs.

2. Heart (EQ) – To Love; our passion, compassion, social influence and emotional needs.

3. Mind (IQ) – To Learn; our vision, talent, self-esteem, learning research and development needs.

4. Spirit (SQ) – To Leave a Legacy; our conscience, morality, cultural, and wisdom to do the right thing needs.

Note: Each letter above “P” for Physical, “E” for Emotion, “I” for Intellect and “S” for Spirit represent each category of need in our life. The “Q” is symbolic of our intelligences in varying degrees regarding each of these capacities.

This simple model of the Total and Whole Person can be applied to any faction of our lives; on the job, better education, a physical and civic infrastructure which influence to make our lives more functional and creates the drives to enhance our quality of life. Jobs, education, infrastructures and quality of life are also be defined as the building blocks for our organizations and socio-economic community structures… a maximization of these building blocks by applying the Whole Person reality will contribute to the betterment of us all.

So once we begin to use our Total and Whole Person process to find Self Actualization, what are the impacts? Like the simple rings of energy which ripple away from a small pebble thrown into a calm pond, the action begins with you. While great things may not happen immediately, it is important to start within yourself—begin with small task regarding the body, heart, mind and spirit… keep small promises you have made to yourself and others. The influencing rings of action will eventually make their way across your pond of your life.

Keep dropping small pebbles into the pond by completing your clock/compass (clock & compass model coming soon) driven daily task and by asking the question, am I doing… the right thing… the right way… for the right reason? These task and questions should be rooted in a firm foundation of change-less-principle centered core values. You will begin to have reflective vision with creative imagination about your purpose, you will make a choice of pathways to follow, create alignments and collaborate with others. Then you will eventually come to the realization of your crown and the satisfaction of having your Self Actualization needs satisfied… which eventually leads to a “Culture of Interdependence Fixated on Purpose”.

This is how and why we should first build a firm foundation since there is no Self Actualization without having a solid foundation on which to build and answers the question… Where Do We Start?

Also, keep in mind this site is about learning how to exist at “Simplicity on the far side of Complexity” and that a “Culture of Interdependence Fixated on Purpose” is the only way to find this fulfillment. So, keep on exploring the links/buttons on the left side of this Web site Home page and the models will eventually come into view like ships appearing at their port of call from a dark and foggy night.
