Simplicity Insight... is it a Theory?
Let's Talk!

We want to take a look at the fundamentals of our Simplicity Theory. But first read this quote from one who was a master on the subject...

That's been one of my mantras - focus and simplicity. Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it's worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains.

Steve Jobs - Founder of Apple Computer & I-Devices

Now let's look at the reason for the name of this Web Site. By it’s self, simplicity has a different meaning then how we prefer to use it within this Web site. So, by reading it with an additional word, you can see how quickly the meaning changes.

Adding the word “Insight” gives it more character, vision and encourages us to think deeper about its meaning. Therefore, the reasoning for doing this on our Web site is to do exactly that… provide pathways for you to think deeper about “purpose” and how we can “fixate” on that “purpose” to “discover” continuous improvement and fulfillment within a “Culture of Interdependence Fixate on Purpose.”

Now we want to exam the meaning of our topic; it is a cognitive principle that seeks to explain the attractiveness of situations or events to human minds.

This theory is based on work done by scientists like Nick Chater, Paul Vitanyi, Jean-Louis Dessalles, Jürgen Schmidhuber. It claims that interesting situations appear simpler than expected to the observer.- Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.”

Whew… who knows what that means? Therefore, here's my attempt to interpret!

This is a prime example of some difficulty when defining our topic. Isn’t that ironic! I think for use on this Web site we can adopt the following statements from above…

· “Seeks to explain the attractiveness of situations”

· “Seeks to explain events to the human mind”

· The shortest description of the situation is shorter than anticipated.”

Ok, what is the meaning of these? Talk about having to think! From my point of view the author is attempting to explain that the first two bullets above is about paradigms; how the mind sees things and the last bullet has to do with things not being expected and/or if you think something for example is short it maybe much shorter.

In other words things may not be as simple as we first think, in other cases things may be simpler then what we think. Thus we see things more simple then we first thought.

OMG… this is getting confusing! So, why is this important to our concept?

Basically it is nothing to loose sleep over... but the important thing is to know, we are attempting to explain how we realize things get convoluted even when it is a simple phrase, we tend to get hung-up, and we instinctively look for the complications, that's only human nature!

Thus our objective here is to see a model of “Simplicity on the Far Side of Complexity" and see that it can exist regardless of the challenge—when we focus on a principle centered purpose beyond the challenge—we discover our goal.
